April Book List

New Month. New books to read. This month’s list explores different genres, writing styles, and emotional requirements. The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan is part 2 of a 3 book series. I read the Kingmaker in February, and I loved the story line. Tiffany Jackson has a way of pulling on and not letting go of your heart strings. If Grown is anything close to Allegedly, I’m not sure if I’m ready, but I do know that I will have to read something a little lighter afterwards. Which leads me to THE Terry McMillan. You can never go wrong with a Terry McMillan book. Now that I’m over 40, I have a different appreciation for the women she writes about and the way she creates sisterhood in her stories is very inspiring. I can’t wait to turn the pages of It’s Not All Downhill from Here.

It’s Not All Downhill from Here by Terry McMillan

True, she’s carrying a few more pounds than she should be, but she’s not one of those women who thinks her best days are behind her, and she’s determined to prove her mother, her twin sister, and everyone else with that outdated view of aging wrong—it’s not all downhill from here. from Goodreads.com

The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan
Ambition. Revenge. Love.
Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.
Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and we’re the pawns and players.
Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all? from Goodreads.com
