September was a slow read month for me, but it was still a good one.
I’m excited to start the “While Justice Sleeps” series. Stacey Abrahams is a brilliant writer and I love her true crime books. “While Justice Sleeps” is in the process of becoming a TV movie.
“Do What Godmother Says” is a little bit of a crossover with “Harlem Rhapsody” by Victoria Christopher Murray only in the way that it mentions Charlotte Osgood Mason, who named herself The Godmother of the Harlem Renaissance. I enjoyed this book as it hits on family traditions and legacy.
The “Bones at the Crossroads” is part 2 of a series that I was very excited to read. I’m not a Fantasy genre kind of girl, but I thoroughly enjoy this series. I do believe that this book was a bit longer than it should be. I was ready for it to be over, tbh.
My FAVORITE read of the month was hands down, “Love you to death.” It was a little unpredictable, suspenseful, frustrating, eye rolling, and more. This book hit on how loss and void can contribute to codependncy in relationships and how mental health affects the decisions we make. It also made me question how much I really LOVE my friends.
I’m excited about my October reads, “The Reformatory” and “Zeal“. Let me know if you have read any of these.
xoxo,
Starr
