Black women really are magical. No for real. Is there really nothing we can’t do?? I don’t think so. The problem is, not everyone is exposed to this knowledge. The BIGGER problem is not every BLACK woman knows their magic, sees their magic, or even believes in their magic.
To be clear, a black woman’s magic encompasses the beauty, power and resilience we all hold, as defined by the #blackgirlmagic phrase creator CaShawn Thompson. CaShawn goes on to explain, “I say ‘magic’ because it’s something that people don’t always understand. Sometimes our accomplishments might seem to come out of thin air, because a lot of times, the only people supporting us are other black women.”
For the record, women, in general are forces to be reckoned with. However, I make it my duty, as a black woman, to first look to a black female creator, curator, artist, designer, and, or business owner whenever I have a need. I take extreme pride in building a team full of BLACK. GIRL. MAGIC! And you better believe that I’m sharing all of their goodness….When I know, you know.
It’s too often that we don’t get the recognition we deserve, the funding we qualify for, or the platform we’re worthy of. It’s up to black women, to push other black women to the forefront and market them, support them, acknowledge them, share them, and most importantly, spend their money with them.
Black women are out here killing the game, taking over all industries, and saving lives. Literally! Recognize your own magic and celebrate the women around you. Sprinkle it everywhere.

my Weekend Style
I had a pretty busy weekend, and I’m crazy tired. The weather here, in Houston, was absolutely gorgeous and forced me to get out of the house. Although I spent most of my Saturday in the car, driving (Thank you Houston, for being so spread out), I enjoyed the beautiful weather, cruising these H-Town streets, listening to the H-Town girl, Solange, and her new album, A Seat at the Table. I woke up and met my cousin at the studio to record a podcast episode, giving her the opportunity to share her story as a Breast Cancer survivor. Listen to that episode, here. Then, I met my Sorority sister for lunch at this pretty cool vegan restaurant near the Medical Center, called Sunshine’s Vegetarian Deli. Get the Vegan Nachos and/or the Garlic Kale salad, they are both amazing. I also attempted to do a little thrifting, but I suck at it. My Type A personality won’t let me be thrift shop great. I couldn’t take the clutter, large amounts of stuff, and the smell….so I bolted. Anyway, shop my Saturday Style, below. I’ve linked the “Reals and Deals.”
I really enjoyed spending time with my friends and family, the people I love. How was your weekend?
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” ~ John 15:12-13

I love Fall Fashion like no other! I love it so much that I’ve already put away my summer clothes and it’s still well into the nineties here in Houston. I think the REAL reason I put my summer clothes away is to make room, in my closet, for the new Fall pieces I recently purchased.
If you live in a city, like me, where it doesn’t get too cold, but it’s cold enough, then your winter wardrobe is more than likely not that extensive. Typically, what I do is add a few accessories and maybe one or two sweaters to my closet, every year, to freshen up the things I already have. I don’t splurge on boots since the weather doesn’t really afford me the opportunity to wear them very often.
I’ve picked up a few fall pieces and I’d like to think that I’m done, but we all know how that goes. Anyway, I’ve included a few of my most loved items that have recently found their way to my closet. I hope you like them as much as I do.
